Why is my garbage disposal humming but not spinning?
A humming disposal usually means the motor has power, but the flywheel is jammed. This is often caused by food debris, bones, or a foreign object stuck inside. We diagnose the cause, clear the blockage safely, and check the motor for damage.
2. When should I repair my disposal vs. replace it?
Minor leaks, jams, and clogs can usually be repaired. If the motor is burned out, the unit is over 8–10 years old, or repairs cost more than half of a new unit, replacement is the better choice. We’ll inspect it and give you honest recommendations.
3. Why is my disposal leaking under the sink?
Leaks can come from the disposal body, the flange, the dishwasher connection, or worn-out gaskets. We identify the exact source and repair or reseal the assembly to stop the leak completely.
4. Can you install a new disposal if I’ve never had one before?
Yes. We install new garbage disposals in homes that have never had one, including adding the outlet, switch, drain connection, and dishwasher line if needed. Everything is installed safely and to code.
5. What size (HP) garbage disposal do I need?
Most homes use ½ HP–¾ HP units. Larger families, heavy use, and tougher food waste benefit from 1 HP or higher. We help you choose a reliable, quiet, long-lasting model for your kitchen.
